How to Keep Your Diary a Secret

October 2, 2018 By: Mania B

Everyone has a certain secret, or even more than one, and keeping a diary is the best way to write your secrets, thoughts, and emotions during the day. You just have to be sure nobody will find it. Your daily emotions, experiences, and observations should be recorded in your diary, as this may be a perfect therapy if you are going through a lot. You must acquire the habit of writing something every single day. Do not be lazy and think that, if you are not into writing today you will do it tomorrow, as you usually never do. And, even if you do it, it just will not be the same. If you write your thoughts on that day when they were going around your head, you will be much more honest and more open to yourself, and if it’s already a couple of days, you may begin to beautify and curl the truth as you like, instead of writing what really happened and what you really experienced. However, even when you decide to be persistent in writing your diary, there is another problem: how to save it from curious eyes? How to prevent people from reading it? If you live with your parents, siblings, friends, or even a partner, that will always be a huge temptation. But, there might be some solutions. The same way we call a locksmith to improve our locks, you can enhance the security of your diary. Take a look!

  1. Buy a regular notebook

If you buy a notebook that says “diary” all across the cover, you already made it quite attractive for people to look into. Instead, buy a regular notebook and make sure to keep it away from people. The less suspicious the better!

  1. Don’t write “don’t read” or “don’t enter”

This message on your cover will just provoke people to enter it and to read it. It’s just a psychological game. When you forbid something, it becomes more attractive. And this way, you send a message that you have lots of interesting secrets. Don’t do it!

  1. Fake diary

If you are afraid that people might be really interesting in your diary, you may always have a fake, besides your real one. When it comes to a fake diary, you may write things such as “don’t read” or “don’t enter”, as you will only write things that you don’t care about inside of it.

  1. Hide it

Yes, this sounds like a very common thing to say, but we really mean, hide it! And, don’t hide it under your bed, or in between your clothes, but think about the least suspicious place in your room. You must have one!

  1. Put a book cover over your real diary

Keeping your diary on a book shelf is not a smart thing to do, unless you are a genius who printed a book cover to put over your real diary. In that case, no one will suspect anything, but make sure to print a cover of a boring book, so nobody will be interesting in checking it out.

     6. Write an online diary with a passcode

This is probably the most obvious way to protect yourself, and especially for people who are completely into technology. However, if you are an old soul, all the things above will be more than helpful. Enjoy recording your secrets!
