Setting: Emily has had her evening bath and is hanging out in the living room while I finish up some stuff before putting her to bed.
Me: “Alright Emily, are you ready for bed?”
Emily: (picks up her snuggy and starts running to her room)
Me: “Oh, um, okay, I guess you are! Don’t you want to give everyone kisses, though?”
Emily: (starts blowing kisses as she continues running into her room, and then stands in the dark waiting for me, still blowing kisses in every direction)
Me: (kisses Emily goodnight, puts her in her crib, and leaves) “BOO-YAH! DONE!” 😉
Big girl moments like that help make up for the fact that she didn’t sleep through the night until she was 13 months old (that is a LONG TIME to go without sleeping more than 5 hours at a time!!)
(Edited to add: She stood up a few minutes later and started crying, so I did have to go back in and soothe her for a bit before she lay back down and went to sleep for the night. But still! We really lucked out with her, and we know it!) 🙂
